Two teenage boys have appeared in court accused of endangering lives by throwing a seat over a barrier and down multiple floors of the Westfield shopping centre in East London.
The boys, aged 14 and 15, appeared at Stratford Magistrates' Court charged with criminal damage that recklessly endangered life following reports of furniture being thrown on March 1 at the shopping centre in Stratford.
The charges state that the boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, damaged a seat worth £500, intending to destroy or damage it and were "reckless as to whether the life of another person would thereby be endangered".
The youth court hearing was adjourned until May 21 by magistrate Aneeta Prem without any pleas being entered as both sets of parents of the boys required interpreters.
The boys were released on bail with conditions that they observe a home curfew, do not contact each other and do not enter Westfield shopping centre.
