Rihanna has revealed that she is expecting her third child, with her rapper partner A$AP Rocky making a sweet comment. Despite both superstars attending the Met Gala, they opted not to pose as a couple on the event's blue carpet.
The Barbadian singer and businesswoman has recently been the subject of pregnancy rumours but had kept quiet up until now, spotted recently in loose-fitting clothes. But against the glitzy blue carpet of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, there was no hiding Rihanna's growing baby bump.
Wearing an all-black suit in homage to the events' menswear theme, the 'Te Amo' artist confidently showcased her belly. During the glamour-filled evening, A$AP Rocky chatted with CBS Mornings about his partner's outfit choice. He commented: "Rihanna's outfit tonight is...I don't know, whatever, just don't really cover her baby hump, ya dig?"
Rihanna's edgy outfit was designed by the iconic Marc Jacobs and featured a long black skirt cascading to the floor, paired with a cropped jacket and a grey bustier accentuating her pregnant silhouette. Topping off the look was a statement-making black hat, a red polka-dot scarf, and monochrome heels. Meanwhile, this year's co-host A$AP was spotted looking dapper in a bespoke black suit of his own design, reports the Mirror.
This year's theme, set by Condé Nast and Vogue editor-in-chief Dame Anna Wintour, was titled 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style'. This concept aimed to delve into the influence of fashion and style on the formation of Black identities.
2025 marks the first time in over 20 years that the star-studded event has exclusively spotlighted menswear. The theme draws inspiration from Monica L Miller's 2009 book, 'Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity'.
Rihanna and A$AP are already parents to two children - their sons RZA Athelston Mayers, aged two, and Riot Rose Mayers, who is one. The Met Gala isn't the only high-profile event where Rihanna has chosen to announce her pregnancies.
The iconic singer confirmed her second pregnancy in a similarly public way back in 2023, when she unveiled her baby bump during her Super Bowl halftime show performance, making history as the first performer to headline the show while expecting.
However, the Fenty mogul later confessed that debuting her baby bump at the game wasn't part of her original plan. "Here's the thing. I did what I had to do, right? My jumper couldn't zip up," she shared with Access Hollywood in December 2023.
With a laugh, she continued: "No one knew I was pregnant. I just told my stylist, 'Make sure it's stretchy.' So the undergarment was stretchy and this [jacket] was baggy, but you know, the zip. It just stopped right there! So it had to be what it had to be."
Previously, she announced her first pregnancy in a romantic photoshoot with A$AP, as they cuddled up for snaps in New York City. In an open-hearted chat last year, the SOS singer disclosed that motherhood has introduced new fears into her life.
She told The Cut: "I'm actually afraid of sh**. The well-being of your kids, you worry about that constantly. Nobody warns you that having kids means you're going to worry every second of your life."
