As a child of Vietnam Vets, I know the importance of serving our country. While helping my dad build a small business, I learned at a young age that putting in hard work and listening to people is how we solve problems together. I have been an investigative journalist and worked for a think tank that investigated political corruption. I have had a career in public health. I am a small business owner. I am on the board of the Whitewater Grocery Cooperative, which is an initiative to build a grocery store in a USDA food desert. I currently teach at UW-Whitewater, serve on the Library Board, Plan Board, and Equal Opportunities Commission. I am also serving my second term on the Whitewater Common Council.
  • Good public education is fundamental to our society & citizenship and needs to be funded at the promised 2/3 levels.
  • Healthcare needs to be affordable and accessible to all, no matter where you live.
  • As a gun owner, I believe in Common Sense gun laws.
Public education is the fundamental building block of our society. When we don't pay our teachers decent wages at the K-12 and University levels, it leads to turnover and wealthier districts/colleges poaching our teachers and administrators. This lack of consistency leads to cultural breakdown, the loss of our middle class, and the loss of education that helps our children succeed, build businesses, and create families.

Our health is our greatest asset in life; not being able to pay for necessary health care or having to drive too far to access it is unacceptable.

Women have the right to birth control and family planning. Abortion is health care. Women have the right to discuss their pregnancies with their doctors without government bureaucracies overreaching and mandating pregnancies.

Small businesses face a number of hurdles when it comes to achieving success. Some of these hurdles are regulatory, and some exist simply because it is difficult for a small business owner to have all the skill sets it takes to run in business in the 21st century. We should have a more robust system through the Better Business Bureau to help small businesses navigate these obstacles.

We need to be better stewards of our environment and take care of our water and air quality.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Wisconsin

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states. To contribute to the list of Wisconsin scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
